Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) is a branch of Civil Engineering knowledge which focuses on how to manage the construction of physical facilities. CEM, as one of the important aspects in an integrated civil engineering body of knowledge, is functioning as the hub for technical ideas developed by other aspects of civil engineering to their implementations in creating efficient and effective constructed facilities. CEM also relates to other engineering fields such as electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and chemical engineering to support the realization of the engineered facilities.
CEM research division is a research division within the faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Institut Teknologi Bandung. In addition to provide construction education in Civil Engineering study program, this group also actively performs research and community services in solving management and engineering aspects of construction problems. The scope of CEM research spans from the development of the construction industry, to the enhancement of construction business, and to the construction field operation.
Construction Engineering and Management research division is acknowledged as the strongest research group in the field of construction in Indonesia. Currently CEM research division consists of twelve qualified members, comprising of one full professor, 6 associate professors, and 5 assistant professors. The members were graduated from various leading universities in the world, which have also a wide range of teaching and research experiences, both at home and abroad.

Members of CEM research division, either individually or as division’s representative, have been consistently contributing to the development of Indonesian construction industry. Some of the CEM members have been actively involved as member of experts’ panel and committee members of several construction related regulations, standard and system establishments, such as:
– Development of the Indonesian Construction Services Act (UUJK No. 18/1999)
– Revision of Governments’ regulations (PP 28, 29, 30/2000)
– Standard of Unit Price Analysis for Building Cost Estimation (SNI ABK 2002)

CEM research division has been actively engaged in various collaborative efforts in research and policy development with local and national institutions, such as:
– National Construction Service Development Board (LPJKN)
– Provincial Construction Service Development Board (LPJKD, Jawa Barat)
– Center for Construction and Human Resources Development, Ministry of Public Work
